- Alternating operation
- Cascade control
Usage
The PDFM double pressure booster units are suitable for pumping/boosting cold, clear water from unpressurized storage tanks (so-called indirect connection). They are also suitable for boosting pressure in pressurized water networks (so-called direct connection). The use of other types of water must be agreed with the manufacturer. A detailed water analysis is required to determine suitability.
The pressure booster stations are used where pressure boosting with the most constant delivery pressure possible is required.
- Pumping water from storage tanks
- Pressure increase in tap water networks
- Pumping water from network separation tanks
Functionality
The pressure booster units are designed for supply operation with and without pre-pressure, as well as for suction operation with moderate suction height. A fully automatic, pressure-dependent control system regulates the speed of the pump in operation depending on the current delivery pressure and the set target pressure (PI controller). If one pump is unable to meet demand, the second pump is switched on (cascade connection). Smaller withdrawal quantities are fed into the network from the diaphragm expansion tank, which prevents the pump from starting up too frequently. The pressure booster unit must be protected against dry running by means of a suitable protective device (accessory). The dry running protection can be designed as a float switch, pressure switch, or electrode relay.
Depending on the equipment, a common collective fault signal or a fault signal for each pump can be tapped at the terminal transfer box.
The pressure booster units are electrically wired at the factory. The operating voltage is 400V/N/PE. The pressure limits and the pre-pressure in the diaphragm expansion tank may need to be adjusted to suit local operating conditions. An additional device, which is available as an option (see accessories), may be required to change the settings. The factory setting is indicated on the type plate.
